you know... i am so proud of our sikh orgz for sticking up for the turban in all spheres of life... but i watched the news show of this dude's story on youtube, and he was about to go get a drink of alcohol when this all happened to him...

i don't wish harm on anyone who drinks and wears a turban... but i wish we could be more clear as a sikh body that the sikh community is standing up for the sikh way of life (of which the turban is an integral part), but the sikh community is not just standing up for the turban as a cultural practice.

this obviously is a nuanced discussion that would be better suited to an internal sikh community dialogue, rather than a public discourse with outside society, but i really think this is the panthic conversations we should be having on the issue of the right to the turban, kara, kirpan etc.
